Q: What kind of training to do you have in creating ceremony and rituals?
A: I have been a minister of word and sacrament for over twenty years and have a master of divinity degree. My education and years of experience makes me highly qualified to create the ceremony of your choosing.
Q: We are an interfaith couple, will you honor our faith traditions?
A: Without question! I believe that there are a myriad of ways to honor different faith traditions and am happy to discuss ideas and insights with you.
Q: What kind of experience do you have in public speaking?
A: I have been speaking in public on a weekly basis for my entire career. I have years and years of experience as a public speaker. It is one of my great passions and something I feel extraordinarily comfortable doing.
Q: Do you offer a complimentary consultation?
A: Absolutely!
Q: Will you be available via email and phone for consultation during the process?
A: I certainly will be available for any questions that you may have during the process.
Q: Will you be creating a personalized ceremony and allow as many changes/edits as we may need?
A: We will work together to create the perfect ceremony for you.
Q: Do you offer sample ceremonies for us to look at?
A: Yes. I have many examples of ceremonies to help you as we plan your ceremony.
Q: Will you allow us to be offbeat/creative/alternative as we plan our ceremony?
A: I think it’s a whole lot of fun to be involved in alternative ceremonies. At the end of the day it’s your wedding, not mine and it should be celebrated in whatever way makes you happiest. I will support your creative ideas wholeheartedly!
Q: Will we have final approval on our ceremony?
A: Absolutely!
Q: Will you help coordinate our rehearsal?
A: I will be available to coordinate your rehearsal if you want and/or need me to provide that service for you.
Q: What documentation do I need to bring to apply for the marriage license?
A: You’ll only need photo ID such as a license or passport. CT does NOT require any other paperwork, including divorce decrees if this is a subsequent marriage.
Q: What is the turn around time on the whole process?
A: It varies from city to city as there is no CT state law requiring a waiting or processing period but they have different processing times; typically the license is ready either the next day or prepared while you wait. Similarly, there are no laws specifying what the ceremony must consist of thus it can be as short as a couple of sentences on up to as long as you can imagine.
Q: I’m from out of state, can I get married in CT?
A: Yes, anyone who meets the basic requirements for marriage is eligible to be married in the state regardless of residency be it another US state or another country.
Q: Do you perform same sex marriages?
A: Yes, I have officiated many same sex weddings.
